Mikrotik CCR Models And Prices Available
The prices are available and MAN…are they gooooooooood!!!!!!!
*Edit* Tom just let me know that they will be shipping end of November 2012…so end of this month.
CCR1016-12G
This model only has 16 cores instead of 36…hehehe. I say that like it’s a trifling thing. That still adds up to 19.2GHz…uhhhhh…YES PLEASE!
And the price is right around $645!!!!!!!!
CCR1036-12G-4S
You get 1,000,000 cores and 5TB of RAM with 96GB ports and it only costs $995…You hearing me people…$995!!!!
I’m going to go ahead and say that anyone who was selling X86 boxes need to unload their inventory NOW. Once these babies are rocking and rolling I’ll be telling everyone to grab these instead of X86, which I used to push people towards.
Once the CCR that almost all SFP ports and the model that has 10Gb optics I think there will be zero reason to use anything else.
What say you fine fellows? I say MTK needs to send me a couple of review samples.
PS, thanks for the heads up Adam.
Already reserved 6 from the first batch to my country, they will arrive within 2 weeks 😉
@O
I’m so jelly bro! Pop back and let us know what you think of them.
Too bad that they did not include SFP on the lower end one. One port would have been nice.
J
Will do 😉
@Jason
Nothing is ever perfect sir…hehehe. But for the price, I’ll live with it 🙂
I want one now!
No info anywhere yet if these have hardware IPSec aes acceleration. Asked on the forums, but will have to wait till monday 🙂 Tile makes these chips with and without aes accelerator, so lets hope for the best.
The 16 core version with accelerated aes will be awesome.
@Tom
It’s been a while sir, glad to hear from you!
Even if they do have hardware acceleration it may not be enabled immediately. I seem to recall the RB1000 having hardware IPSec that wasn’t enabled in software for a while. It may be the same with the CCR?
What I was a little disappointed about the CCR’s is that MikroTik continues to use a DB9 connector for the serial port instead of an RJ45 which would allow me to use all the Cisco console cables I have piling up. 🙂 🙂
It works extremely well on my RB2011 and I thought they would have included it on the Flagship line too.
@greg
I’ve been pretty much closed off in a server room for last 3 weeks with no outer world contact, doing a VDI deployment for a client 😀
As for the IPSec, you were exactly right Greg. From forums:
“The Tilera CPU supports IPsec acceleration, as was stated above by otgooneo. Intial RouterOS software release will not support it, but we are actively working with the CPU manufacturer, to add software support in upcoming RouterOS versions (it is definitely coming!)”
@Tim
…I didn’t even notice that. I suppose I was too busy looking at the forest to see the trees 🙂
@Tom
When you return to the world of the living, I’ll be happy to welcome you back 😉 hehe
Hey, I get one right a year…seems this is my one. Next time I’ll try and get that out of the way earlier in the year so I can just continue to make idiotic statements all year.
That’s an epic piece of hardware. I really hope this with v6 will mean a whole new era of performance for MTK/ROS
@Matt
You and me both!
Mine arrived last week, there was a CC processing delay (bill to/ship to) but 2nd day air had them in a rack in nyc thursday night.
So far so good, no live traffic in them yet…
@Don
NICE!
We have a man down.
Shipped with r5 one wont boot: Loading Kernel
Should have heard my defense of pre production units 🙁
@Don
Well, it would bound to happen to someone. Andrew had one come in that looked like it was runover by a truck hehehe.
After an hour of having my less savvy on site tech change cables I was able to netinstall the doa to rc7, then updated the other one that was on rc5.
New tip to those who have them: look under interfaces, sfpX, second tab!!!
I will load some optics up tomorrow and give it a test drive.

would have saved me that hour.
@Don
We eagerly await news!
